I received a small gift and some money from my brother and his wife for my new daughter.
Should I thank you? Is it always important to thank someone for a gift and how do I do, maps, notes, called SMS (text message)?

The donation was very individual and therefore a personal thank you is correct. I want to go with a nice thank-Mesage memory card and a photo of the child would be great. This is just politeness.
